Hi all,

i have not long received an awesome Zilvermeeum (thanks Marlies) and have bitten the De Waard bug. Looking for a tent for 'one night' stays with one or both of my sons.

Here are my thoughts on what i think i need:-

- I would like to be able to fit the two mats i have ((an Exped Megamat at 197 x 77 cm and a Vango Comfort 7.5 Double 200 x 130 cm) so i can bring my sons, so 2.1 m wide. x 2.0m, plus a little room for a bag or two.
- ideally i would like to be able to stand in the tent (1.88m), but this would discount too many tents, but wouldn't want to have to stoop too much.
- quick and easy to build, so as simple a design as possible.
- an inner tent would be nice (there are a lot of flies in some of the campsites i have visited!), but not many of the smaller tents have these i think.
- budget is around 250 to 300, this possibly discounts a lot of potential tents such as the Grote Bonte Speech.

I have created a spreadsheet on google drive (link) shortlisting all the de waards that look suitable. Could you take a look an tell me what you think?
I have discounted: -
- the tunnel tents.
- the Dwergstern, Stern inc Stern 2 stoks and the Brilstern as too small.

I am thinking the options could be

• Stern Grote (or 2 sticks)
• Zilverplevier (possibly too low?)
• Kleine Burgemeester
• Koningstern
• Oeverloper (doesnt look that quick to build)
• Grote Bonte Specht (probably out of my price range)
• Kemphaan
• Kapmeeuw
• Goudplevier

A couple of questions: -
Which of these would be available in my budget for a good condition tent?
Which of these are simpler / quicker to build?
Have i missed any tents, or are there tents on this list that shouldn't be there?

To Small:
Stern Grote (or 2 sticks)

Realistic:
2 stok grote stern
Zilverplevier (possibly too low?)
Kleine Burgemeester
Koningstern
Kleine Bonte Specht Also probably out of price range and harder to find then Grote Bonte Specht
Grote Bonte Specht (probably out of my price range)
Oeverloper (doesnt look that quick to build)
Kapmeeuw

Takes more time then previous tents:
Kemphaan
Goudplevier

Thanks Jarl. are "2 stok grote stern" and "Stern Grote (or 2 sticks)" different tents, or is it a typo that you had the tent as both too small' and 'realistic'.

Out of the 'realistic' tents, which tent is the best balance of size, practicality and speed to build that is within my budget of around 250-300?

In my opinion the Kapmeeuw and Goudplevier are the best one nighters/weekend tents if you look for a tent you can stand in. Easy to pitch, easy to pack and a good size/space ratio. Pitching time is about the same as their smaller brothers.

And you’re not wrong to neglet the tunnels. These are not as easy to pitch as a Kapmeeuw and Goudplevier.

There is a:
Grote stern (1 stick)
And a Grote 2 stick stern.

The Grote 2 stick could be just large enough 240x200

I do not agree, the kuifuil is at least as easy tot pitch maybe even easier
Could also be a fine 1 nighter

Hmm, I forgot about the kuifuil, and als the graspieper (if you can define the graspieper as a tunneltent). These are actualy easy to pitch. The kuifuil also has a very nice size and fits three persons easy. Only thing is the height.

I think the Graspieper and Kuifuil can be discounted for a number if reasons, primarily price and also height, i dont think i could even kneel in them without bending!

I think i have shortlisted down to the Kapmeeuw. I will be placing a wanted ad here on the 20th for Kapmeeuw with luifel

I receive my annual bonus then but do not yet know the amount, I think it will allow me to buy a nice Kapmeeuw tent, but not 100% sure what budget...!

I have seen the Zeearend on the wiki and always thought it looked a complicated tent. Is there just part of the zeearend for sale on this advert? Google translate doesn't make things clear for me...

Regarding the Kapmeeuw. I have been reading up here on the forum and i see that some here have purchased an A stick for the rear. I think for me this would be essential to allow 3 mats to be spaced across the tent. Are there many that come up for sale with 'a-sticks'?
