Hello De Waard lovers!

I come from Poland. Frankly speaking I have never heard about De Waard until I saw the picture of this tent on the internet (announcement) last week ago. I was looking for some classical tent to use on the old sidecar motorcycle. Then I found your page and started to look through. I like the idea of tent built for generations . And I bought it for the very reasonable price. It is Kapmeeuw from the 80s I suppose. I attach the few pictures - maybe some experts from the forum could affirm this…

Welcome to the Forum. You do have a nice Kapmeeuw, a very practical tent. And based on the label it was made in 1984/85. Quite an old lady yet!

Where in Poland would you recommend camping with motor and tent? Have been looking at campings in Poland on https://www.jetcamp.com/en/poland/ They list some 230 campings in Poland. By the way: some campings still have the camping numbers used in "the old days" .....are these numbers still in use?

Thank you for all your replay! I am not an expert in De Waart tents, but I can send some tips about camping in Poland and interesting places to see. In old days the camping was very popular in Poland, but people often camp just in the wild spots. Lots of official campgrounds in Poland had a very poor standard. But it was during communism. Nowdays you can find a very nice campgrounds, but mainly along the Baltic Sea in north and mountains in the south. I live in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. It is situated in southeastern Poland, in the historical region of Lesser Poland, and takes its name from the Świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross) mountain range - the oldest mountains in Poland (not so high, around 600 m). Its capital and largest city is Kielce. If you plan to visit this part of Poland I can give you some tips. I also know very nice place for camping for motorcyclists in Bieszczady Mountain. If somebody needs some tips please send me a privet message.

Actually I do not have such a knowledge about this numbers. But I would be very careful with this numbers to judge if the place is good or not good. There are some wonderful places to stay, which are not present at this site (https://www.jetcamp.com/en/poland). To recommend some spots I should know your particular preferences.

You can put some more tension on the guy lines, they can take quite some force. The roof wil be more smooth and it stands better when there is wind.

Kapmeeuw is really nice tent and ease to pitch. I also have homemade canvas tent similar to Swedish Tentipi (older name: Moskoselkatan). It was sewn from the older polish military canvas. I use it during winter time on my sidecar motorcycle. I can use open fire inside this tent without any problems (although the tent doesn’t have a floor) using folding stoves (also homemade).
