Hello there - I recently bought a De Waard Vergrote Zilvermeeuw (2015 model - not sure if the dimensions have always been the same with that model). I need/want to get a tarp to put under the tent - what size would you recommend? The dimensions of the tent itself (from the De Waard website) state it's 450cm wide and then then 470cm deep (if you're only including the area of the groundsheet).

I've also seen photos of Dee Waards with some sort of material out the front of the tent on the floor under the awning - any suggestions as to what this might be? More tarp? I always find tarp can fold/ride up so not sure I'd want another one at the front of the tent.

A lot of people put just a sheet of very cheep plastic underneath the tent aproxthe size of the tent. Every time after camping (espec[doc][/doc]ially long term) it start to smell and it is thrown away.

Is this really necessary? No... The only reason is that your ground tarp will stay clean.

Underneath the vario luifel/awning it is a different story, but the is just what you want. In the big camp shops there a a lot of variation, tarps with an airbag on the side to prevent water coming in. Special carpets with hollow fibers to insulate. Or just grass.

We have only near the doors a cheap carpet from the IKEA to prevent dirt coming in the tent but that is only 60cm wide and 120cm long.

All depends of your needs.

Many thanks - I've seen a cheap tarp at 4m x 4m I think I'll go with then.
